Koleje Mazowieckie
Koleje Mazowieckie (Masovian Railways) is a regional rail operator in the Masovian Voivodeship of Poland.
History
The company was founded in 2004 as a joint venture of the Masovian Voivodeship, with 51% shares, and the, then government-owned, PKP Przewozy Regionalne, with 49% shares, to handle local passenger traffic in the Voivodeship. Its services were inaugurated on January 1, 2005. By the end of 2007 Koleje Mazowieckie was completely owned by the Masovian Voivodeship.
Rolling stock
The rolling stock consists mostly of old electric multiple units taken over from PKP and gradually modernized, with further compatibile trains purchased from other operatiors. As of 2010 the Koleje Mazowieckie had just under 200 PKP class EN57, five EN71 and two EW60 [1]. Additionally the company purchased seven DB Class 627 and four 628 diesel multiple unit to serve on non-electrified routes.
In 2008 the company bought 10 modern Stadler FLIRT EMUs and 26 Bombardier Double-deck Coaches along with 10 cab cars (presently pulled by TRAXX P160 DC purchased from Bombardier).
In 2011 the company bought 16 PESA ELF EMUs, in a configuration very similar to FLIRT.

- KM2 line to Łuków, through Sulejówek, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Siedlce (hourly to Siedlce, more frequently to Mińsk, with additional trains between Siedlce and Łuków)
- KM3 line to Kutno, through Sochaczew, Łowicz (almost hourly to Łowicz, more frequently to Sochaczew)
- KM7 line to Dęblin, through Otwock, Pilawa (hourly to Dęblin, much more frequently to Otwock)
- variant of KM8 line to Skarżysko-Kamienna, through Piaseczno, Radom (rarely)
- variant of KM8 line to Góra Kalwaria, through Piaseczno (rarely)
- minor variant of KM9 line to Iłowo, through Legionowo, Nasielsk (once a day)
- minor variant of KM6 line to Tłuszcz, through Wołomin (rarely)
- On the Warsaw Circumferential Line: major variant of KM9 line from Warszawa Wola and Warszawa Gdańska station to Iłowo, through Legionowo, Nasielsk (rarely)
- Koleje Mazowieckie also operates a S9 line between Warszawa Gdańska - Legionowo for Warsaw Transport Authority, operating outside the companies fare system and branding
- major variant of KM6 line from Warszawa Wileńska station to Małkinia, through Wołomin, Tłuszcz (Warszawa-Tłuszcz is the most frequent service)

Trains which compete with InterRegio and PKP Intercity. Most of they have air conditioning and are accessible for the disabled - it is standard in some countries but unusual in Poland.

- Słoneczny from Warsaw to Gdynia, through Legionowo, Nasielsk, Iłowo, Gdańsk (only in summer, KM9 line, Słoneczny means Sunny)
- EMU's:
- Bolimek on KM1 line from Żyrardów to Warsaw (and back, name refers to Bolimów Landscape Park)
- Wiedenka on KM1 line from Skierniewice to Warsaw, through Żyrardów (and back, name is female-human form of Wiedeń-Vienna but refers to common name of Warsaw-Vienna railway line through Skierniewice)
- Rudka on KM2 line from Siedlce to Warsaw, through Mińsk Mazowiecki (and back, one of the fastest trains in Poland; name refers to some spa near Mrozy station, this word also have the same origin as Mińsk - iron ore).
There are many trains on 'KM2 Warsaw - Mińsk Mazowiecki - Siedlce' line, which skip some stops (they are additional, not instead of regular trains).
Cooperation with Warsaws public transport system
Within the Warsaw metropolitan area long and medium term tickets issued by the Warsaw Transport Authority (no shorter than 24 hours), previously validated in city buses, trams, metro or Fast Urban Rail are honored in all regular trains of Koleje Mazowieckie.
